John E. Upledger, DO, OMM & Lisa Upledger, DC, FIAMA, CST-D - CrainoSacral Therapy - Working In Concert With Nature
Greek physician Hippocrates (460-377 BC) once declared that the “natural forces within us are the true healers of disease.” In the centuries since then, medical science has undergone incomprehensible advances. Yet for all of our technological wizardry, it is more apparent every day that nothing dreamed up in a laboratory has more power to facilitate true healing than the essence of Nature itself. When we refine our ability to channel that power through our bodies and minds, then we become the living medical instruments we were meant to be.
Join Drs. John and Lisa Upledger to learn how you can strengthen your ability to work in concert with Nature to tap those natural forces. By learning more about the miraculous capabilities of the energy flowing through you every moment, you can perfect your own ability to direct your intention for the greatest good of allconcerned.

ANOTHER BIO
Throughout his career as an osteopathic physician, Dr. Upledger has been recognized as an innovator and leading proponent in the investigation of new therapies. His development of CranioSacral Therapy in particular has earned him an international reputation. He has served on the Alternative Medicine Program Advisory Council for the Office of Alternative Medicine at the National Institutes of Health in Washington, D.C. In 2001 he was featured on CNN and in TIME magazine as one of America's next wave of innovators.
Although much of his experience has been garnered through private clinical practice, Dr. Upledger served from 1975-1983 as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics at Michigan State University. During those years he supervised a team of anatomists, physiologists, biophysicists and bioengineers in experiments testing the existence and influence of the craniosacral system.
The results of those scientific studies explained the function of the craniosacral system and its use in evaluating and treating poorly understood malfunctions of the brain and spinal cord. Dr. Upledger went on to develop and refine CranioSacral Therapy and other complementary modalities, which are now taught worldwide to a diversified group of healthcare professionals through The Upledger Institute's educational programs. He has also written numerous textbooks and study guides, and more than two dozen research articles.
In 1987, Dr. Upledger established The Upledger Foundation to reach out to those less fortunate to help improve their life experiences. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to the ongoing research and development of new therapeutic applications, and the establishment of community-outreach programs that enhance total health.

The Significance Detector in CranioSacral Therapy: "The craniosacral rhythm can be used effectively to gauge the significance of many types of internal physiological events. For instance, it has long been observed that, when a client’s body is involved in a significant process, the craniosacral rhythm comes to a sudden stop. When this happens, we call it the Significance Detector."

The Still Point: One of the most useful techniques in CranioSacral Therapy is the Still Point, an extended pause in the rhythmical activity of the craniosacral system. Releasing restrictions in this fluctuating flow of fluid can have a therapeutic effect on the central nervous system and the entire body.

The Ten-Step Protocol in CranioSacral Therapy: "In 1975 I was tapped by Michigan State University to lead a team of clinicians and researchers to document the influence of the craniosacral system on the body. In so doing, I developed a gentle method of releasing restrictions around the brain and spinal cord."
