Dr. Tiffany Field, Ph.D. is the Director of The Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami Medical School.

When it was founded, The Touch Research Institute (TRI) was the first center in the world devoted solely to the study of touch and its application in science and medicine.

The TRI distinguished team of researchers, representing Duke, Harvard, Maryland, and other universities, strive to better define touch as it promotes health and contributes to the treatment of disease. Research efforts that began in 1982 and continue today have shown that touch therapy has numerous beneficial effects on health and well-being.

Dr. Field is a leading researcher and authority on the benefits of touch, and has conducted several research studies based on the ancient practices of infant massage from various cultures of the world. Her groundbreaking research has indicated that utilizing massage therapy with babies born prematurely increase their healthy weight gain which allows them to be discharged much earlier than infants who did receive nurturing touch through the use of massage therapy.
